With the Academy Awards rapidly approaching, it is becoming more and more likely that Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Supporting Actor nominees Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr., respectively, will take some Oscars home. That has become even more of a sure thing following the announcement of the BAFTAs in the UK on February 18. Oppenheimer picked up seven awards at the ceremony including Best Film. Close behind was Poor Things with five wins, including one for Best Actress Emma Stone. Barbie received five nominations, including Original Screenplay (which the American Academy has deemed Adapted), but was completely shut out. Holocaust drama The Zone of Interest received five BAFTA nominations, and five Oscar nominations, winning three BAFTAs including Outstanding British Film and Best Film Not in the English Language. The film is also Oscar nominated for Best Picture and Best International feature. David Tennant hosted this year's festivities.
